Position:Community Bylaw Officer Classification:Full-time, Permanent position. 35 hours per week Salary:$25-$30 per hour, Dependent on experience Location:Yunesit’in, Hanceville BC- 1 hour and 15 minutes from Williams Lake, BC Closing Date: Until Filled Yunesit’in Nation is currently seeking aCommunity Bylaw Officer.This individual would need to be willing to complete training to obtain their Community Bylaw Officer ticket and would be an integral part of our Bylaw Enforcements Team. The work involves considerable public relations contact and requires the exercise of independent judgment, action, tact and diplomacy within policy, regulation and bylaw limits. The Yunesit’in Nation is a First Nations community located West of Williams Lake. They are a part of the Tsilhqot’in Nation, which is made up of six communities that share a common language and culture. The Yunesit’in Nation continues to assert their rights and protect their land. They are actively involved in resource management decisions that affect their territory, striving to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability. Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry- Section 16(1)Canadian Human Rights Act. Key Responsibilities * Responsible for completing rounds of the community to ensure outbuildings, machines, equipment, and other community property is not being tampered with or vandalized. * Respond to public inquiries/complaints concerning bylaw infractions and violations. * Investigate and process inquiries/complaints in a professional manner and takes appropriate action as required in accordance with the Communities established policies and procedures. * Develop and implement standard procedures for reporting and dealing with incidents when applicable. * Complete reports by recording observations, relevant information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interview witnesses; obtain signatures. * Report and update Chief and Council with any concerns, findings or incidents. * Maintain the Yunesit’in Government reputation with professionalism and legal compliance. * Enforces various regulatory bylaws including but not limited to public nuisance, public safety, lands and environmental concerns, and other regulatory bylaws.Other duties as assigned. Preferred Requirements * Community Bylaw Officer Ticket, or willingness to complete training. * Minimum Grade 12 * Experience working with indigenous communities/people considered an asset. * Ability to perform under pressure and adversity. * Ability to make immediate decisions, while maintaining composure in emergency situations with minimal supervision. * Clear Criminal Record Check. * Demonstrated conflict resolution in a tactful demeanor. * Discretion when handling confidential and private information. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to build strong relationships with community members. * Level 1 First Aid. * Clear driving record and a Valid BC driver’s license.Working Conditions * Ability to attend and conduct presentations. * Travel may be required. * Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. * Overtime as required. * Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required.To apply, please submit your resume to: Brittany Hutchins Human Resource Manager Yunesit’in Government Email: bhutchins@yunesitin.ca Only those invited to interview will be contacted.
